SkiddPlayer was built on a Django/Python platform developed originally by the Participatory Culture Foundation (PCF), a not-for-profit organisation funded by several philanthropic patrons including Knight Foundation and The Mozilla Foundation. PCF's objective is to create openness, innovation and opportunity helping to make Internet TV more accessible.

SkiddPlayer has been chosen as the incubator of new features for this platform, extending its capabilities to the benefit of all PCF clients. The technology behind SkiddPlayer received a favorable review from Josh Quittner of CNNMoney.com who wrote "I have seen the future of television and it’s an application called Miro."

What's coming in the future?

SkiddPlayer will be perpetually evolving, adding new content and ways in which you can personalise your viewing experience. Some of the changes we will be adding over the next few months will include:

User playlists and bookmarklets within a webTV interface

Persona development with lead-follow capability

People you know/Friend inviter

Hashtag based video requests - enabling channels of content to form around trending topics.
