They say..
While it is not usual for a teenage boy to dream of driving race cars or crossing the finish line first, Christian von Koenigsegg fantasized about actually building the perfect sports car. At the tender age of 22, he set about doing just that. With a skilled team and a brilliant vision, he pushed the limits of both technology and innovation to create the most potent machine anyone had ever seen – The Koenigsegg. Handmade and designed without compromise, The Koenigsegg is a machine that exudes brutality and complexity. In short, The Koenigsegg is one of a kind.
Christian von Koenigsegg launched his car company in 1994. His sole mission was to create the perfect Supercar. Whatever it took. Nothing was going to stop him.
The first Koenigsegg CC prototype boasted a unique carbon body with a detachable roof. Despite very limited resources, the chassis, suspension, brakes, wishbones uprights and many other items where all custom designed for the car by Christian and his small team. The car was very original and got a lot of attention. Today, almost 16 years later, the first CC prototype still drives on.
Christian and Koenigsegg Automotive AB has introduced and patented several new technologies over the years. Among them, the ”rocket” catalytic converter, the supercharger response system and a variable geometry turbo system, to name but a few. Furthermore, several unique ways of using carbon fiber in order to make the car lighter, stronger and safer has been developed in-house.
The Koenigsegg CCXR was the first green Hypercar in the world, running on E85 and E100 Biofuel, as well as normal petrol.
The Koenigsegg philosophy has never been to work around compromise, but rather to innovate in order to avoid compromise. According to Christian nothing is impossible. This state of open-mindedness is what defines Koenigsegg and its cars.
